About Us

Okawa™ Beads and Designs are produced by Work Of Our Hands, a not-for-profit project in Okahandja, Namibia.

Okawa means "small treasure" in the Oshiwambo language and our beads are truly a labor of love with attention to detail at every one of the steps involved.

Work Of Our Hands exists to empower marginalized women to take care of themselves as they learn jewelry and bead-making skills.

We are located in Five Rand Camp, an informal settlement near Okahandja. The laughter and singing emanating from our pottery and jewelry studios fill each of our products with an extra taste of love and passion.

When you buy from us, you aren't just buying beautiful beads, you are empowering women to climb out of extreme poverty and to take charge of their own lives.
